10 Signs Your Chevrolet Needs a Transmission Repair

Most transmission problems are caused by low or degraded transmission fluid. If you experience any of the symptoms below, always check your transmission fluid first. A technician at your local Chevrolet service department can top the fluid up or diagnose and repair any more serious underlying transmission problems for you. Here are ten common signs that a car needs prompt transmission repair. Image obtained from Shutterstock Burning Smell When transmission fluid becomes too old and starts to degrade, it gradually loses its lubricating qualities. This causes friction and heat to rise inside the transmission. The increasing heat can start to burn the transmission fluid, which you may smell from inside the cabin. more Puddling Fluid If your transmission fluid leaks, you may see a puddle of reddish liquid under your car when parked. Leaks can stem from the transmission pan, gasket, drain plug, seals, or fluid lines. It's important to have a leak fixed promptly before the transmission overheats. Grinding Sounds If you hear consistent grinding sounds when shifting, your transmission needs to be checked. If the fluid isn't low, grinding could be caused by problems with the gear system or torque converter. Whining Sounds Automatic transmissions may emit a whining sound when there's a problem. Whining might be caused by a clogged fluid line or filter, or any number of other mechanical or electrical issues. Noises in Neutral When transmission fluid gets too low or the wrong type of fluid is used, you may hear banging noises from the transmission when in neutral. A technician will need to top up or flush your fluid to resolve it. Slipping Gears One of the more disconcerting transmission problems is slipping gears. If your car ever changes gears on its own or pops into neutral while you're driving, you should have it repaired right away. Slipping gears may point to damaged gears, a faulty sensor, a torque converter malfunction, or something else. Delayed Shifting Various mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical gearbox problems may result in delayed or hesitant shifting. At its worst, your gears may refuse to shift at all. Dragging Clutch In manual transmission vehicles, the clutch needs to engage and disengage the flywheel smoothly. If your clutch ever fails to disengage fully, you have a dragging clutch, and you'll struggle to shift gears until it's repaired. Flush Fluid Frequently at Your Chevrolet Dealer Keeping your transmission fluid fresh will stave off most gearbox problems. You should have transmission fluid flushed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles with an automatic transmission and every 30,000 to 60,000 miles with a manual transmission. To know the optimal interval for your particular model, check your owner's manual and also ask the professionals at your local dealership. Visit Allen Tillery Auto today to have your transmission trouble promptly repaired by experienced technicians. We've been delivering top-notch vehicles and treating our customers like family with excellent deals and vehicle servicing since 1967.

Signs You Need To Visit Your Chevrolet Dealer for a Brake Repair

Your car's brakes work effectively to allow you to control your speed and stop when you need to. Time, environmental conditions, and wear and tear can damage your brakes. As your Chevrolet dealer, we want you to enjoy your time on the road in safety. These are a few signs that you could have brake trouble and it's time to visit us for a brake repair. Soft Brake Pedal When you press down on the brake pedal, you'll feel resistance from the brake fluid. This highly pressurized fluid allows your braking system to work effectively. The brake fluid forces the calipers to close against the wheel rotors as soon as you mash the brake pedal. The calipers contain brake pads that produce friction against the rotors and bring your car to a stop. A soft brake pedal is a situation where the brake pedal supplies low resistance when you step on it. The lack of resistance can be caused by a blockage in the brake hoses, a brake fluid leak, or a mechanical issue. Regardless of the cause, a soft brake pedal makes applying the brakes slower and less effective. Our technicians will examine your braking system to find the cause of the problem and repair it. more Hard Brake Pedal This situation is the opposite of the one above. In this case, your brake pedal provides far more resistance than it should. Stepping on the brakes will also slow your braking response, as you have to exert more pressure to force the brakes to engage. This particular problem is usually caused by the failure of the brake pedal booster. The booster is connected to the braking system. It uses a vacuum system to increase the pressure you exert on the brake pedal. This reduces the effort needed to engage the brakes. The booster is a robust component, but it can wear out. If the vacuum inside the booster is compromised, the booster won't work. We'll check the booster and replace it if it's failed. Grinding Noises A harsh grinding sound when you brake can be caused by several issues. One potential cause of the problem is a stone or other hard object that is trapped in one of the calipers. Each time the brake fluid forces the caliper to close, the stone will generate a grinding noise against the metal. Another possible cause of the noise is rusted brake components. The calipers are exposed to water, mud, and snow. Over time, this can cause rust and rusted parts will make grinding or squealing sounds as they work. Our technicians will investigate the issue and fix the problem. If you experience an issue with your brakes, call us immediately at Allen Tilley Auto Chevrolet Buick GMC.

6 Benefits of Getting Car Financing at Your Chevy Dealer

You urgently need a specific car. There isn't enough money in your bank account, and you don't know where to start. Car financing is your answer. And there's no better place to go than to your local Chevy dealer. Image From Pixabay 1. Purchase Your Dream Car Buying a vehicle with cash could mean that your options are limited due to the amount of money you have. You may require to settle for a car that doesn't fully meet your demands. When you decide to purchase it from your dealership, you can obtain the exact model you want with the upgrade features you love. Outside lenders, however, may lock you into credit limits or increase loan rates depending on factors like the year, trim level, and fuel consumption. more 2. Low Interest Rates Dealerships often provide lower interest rates compared to banks and other third-party lenders. This is because they can access multiple lenders and are more aware of the best terms and payments for all models. 3. Faster Processing If you take finance via a dealership, it's possible to acquire financial approval and take your car home within one or two days. Since your financing dealership team works directly with lenders, they'll negotiate on your behalf to ensure you get the best payment deals. You won't have to look for the most suitable auto lender for several days. 4. Flexible Repayment Terms Dealership auto loans are more flexible than banks or credit unions. For instance, your bank or outside lender may cap the number of months to extend your loan depending on aspects like loan amount or the car's age. However, dealerships are less restrictive, giving payment periods of up to 60 months or more for qualified borrowers. This will make your monthly payments manageable. 5. You'll Build Your Savings When you pay for your car in cash, you'll have to spend a huge amount from your savings. There may be other urgent purchases you need to make. When you get financing from your dealership, you won't be required to pay the entire amount at once. You'll still have some saved-up money, your desired vehicle, and time to complete the payment. 6. You'll Build Your Credit A dealership offers financing options to clients with different types of credit histories, including those who can't get approval from banks or financial institutions. When you regularly pay on time, your credit rating improves, creating more opportunities for future loans. You can finally get that fancy car you've been longing for.
