Frequently Asked Questions
2026 GMC Canyon FAQs Hot Springs AR
Eighteen straight answers about the 2026 Canyon: what it costs, what it tows, what changes between trims, and the two questions where we tell you to read the window sticker instead of trusting a web page.
These are the questions Canyon shoppers actually ask us and actually type into search. Every number below is tied to the trim or configuration it belongs to, and where GMC does not publish a figure, we say so rather than borrowing one. If you want the full picture, start with the 2026 Canyon overview or compare the ladder on trims and pricing.
Pricing
Pricing and Availability
How much does a 2026 GMC Canyon cost?
The 2026 Canyon starts at $38,900 for the rear-wheel-drive Elevation, excluding destination. The AT4 starts at $45,500, the Denali at $53,300, and the AT4X at $57,300, all excluding destination. GMC's destination freight charge is $2,095. Four trims, one engine, one cab. Prices change, so confirm the figure on the specific truck before you sign anything.
Is the AT4X AEV Edition a separate trim?
No. It is an available edition package on the AT4X, and the AT4X is the top trim at $57,300 excluding destination. Listings that count the AEV Edition as a fifth trim are wrong; GMC's own trim navigation shows four. The package adds AEV boron-steel skid plates, stamped-steel bumpers, beadlock-capable wheels and 35-inch mud-terrain tires. GMC publishes no price for it, so ask us and we will price the exact build.
Can I lease a 2026 GMC Canyon?
Yes. Lease and finance programs on the Canyon change monthly and vary by credit tier and region, so we do not publish rates or payments on this page. Our finance team will run current programs against your situation and tell you which one actually costs less over the term.
Engines
Engines and Performance
What engine is in the 2026 GMC Canyon?
One engine, on every trim: the 2.7L TurboMax turbocharged inline-four, rated at 310 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 430 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. It pairs with an 8-speed automatic and a 3.42 rear axle. GMC calls that torque figure best-in-class standard gas-engine torque for the mid-size segment.
Is there a diesel or hybrid 2026 Canyon?
No. GMC dropped the Canyon's diesel when this generation launched and has not replaced it, and there is no hybrid or electrified Canyon variant. Every 2026 Canyon runs the gas TurboMax engine. If a listing tells you otherwise, it is describing an older truck.
How much can a 2026 Canyon tow?
Properly equipped with the conventional hitch, the Crew Cab Elevation, AT4 and Denali each tow up to 7,700 lbs. The AT4X tows up to 6,000 lbs. Fitted with the AEV Edition package, it is rated at 5,500 lbs. The off-road suspension and tires on those trims cost them hitch rating. A single lineup-wide tow number is always wrong on this truck.
What is the 2026 Canyon's gas mileage?
The rear-wheel-drive Elevation is EPA-rated at 19 MPG city and 23 MPG highway, 20 combined. Add four-wheel drive to the Elevation, or step to the AT4 or Denali, and it becomes 17 city, 22 highway, 19 combined. The AT4X is rated 17 across the board, city and highway, because a taller lift and off-road tires erase the highway advantage entirely.
Features
Features and Technology
What is standard on the base 2026 Canyon Elevation?
More than most base trucks. The 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, the 11.0-inch digital driver information center, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start, the HD Rear Vision Camera with Hitch View, the ProGrade Trailering System, the Off-Road Performance Display, 18-inch wheels on all-terrain tires, and the same 2-inch factory lift and widened track the whole lineup shares.
What safety features does the 2026 Canyon have?
Standard on every trim: the HD Rear Vision Camera with Hitch View, the ProGrade Trailering System and the Off-Road Performance Display. HD Surround Vision is standard on the Denali and AT4X, and the AT4X adds underbody cameras for up to 10 views. GMC groups its driver-assistance content into Canyon Pro Safety and Canyon Safety Plus but does not publish what is in them for 2026, and independent sources disagree on the details. Read the window sticker on the truck you are buying, or bring it to us and we will read it with you.
Does the 2026 Canyon have a factory lift?
Yes, on every trim, and this is the Canyon's quiet advantage. A 2-inch factory lift and a widened front and rear track are standard equipment lineup-wide, including on the Elevation. The AT4X steps up to a 3-inch lift. The AEV Edition package raises the lift to 4.5 inches.
Trim
Trim Differences
Which 2026 Canyon trim is the best value?
The AT4. It is the cheapest Canyon with the two-speed Autotrac transfer case, the automatic locking rear differential and the full drive-mode set, and it keeps the lineup's maximum 7,700-lb tow rating. Step up to the Denali and you buy leather, a head-up display, Bose audio and surround-view cameras, with no change in capability. Step up to the AT4X and you buy real trail hardware, and its hitch rating drops to 6,000 lbs.
What is the difference between the Canyon AT4 and AT4X?
The AT4X gets a 3-inch factory lift instead of the AT4's 2-inch, Multimatic DSSV dampers, selectable front and rear electronic locking differentials, a Baja drive mode with launch control, a standard sunroof, Bose audio, and up to 10 camera views including underbody cameras. It also tows 6,000 lbs to the AT4's 7,700 lbs and carries 1,260 pounds of payload to the AT4's 1,570 pounds.
Do I need four-wheel drive on a Canyon?
The Elevation is the only trim where you get to choose; the AT4, Denali and AT4X are all 4WD standard. If your Canyon never leaves pavement, rear-wheel drive saves money and returns better fuel economy. If it sees a boat ramp, a gravel county road or an ice-storm morning, buy the four-wheel drive. Between here and Nashville that describes most weeks.
Service
Service and Ownership
How often does a 2026 Canyon need an oil change?
There is no fixed mileage, and any page that gives you one is not quoting GMC. The Engine Oil Life System reads how the engine is actually working and calls for oil when the oil is done. When the Change Engine Oil Soon message appears, you have 600 miles. Regardless of the monitor, the oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and the system reset.
What warranty comes with a 2026 GMC Canyon?
Bumper-to-bumper coverage runs 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Powertrain coverage runs 5 years or 60,000 miles. Rust-through corrosion is covered 6 years or 100,000 miles, and sheet-metal corrosion 3 years or 36,000 miles. GMC also covers one scheduled maintenance visit within the first year of delivery, including an oil change, a multi-point inspection and a tire rotation.
Is the GMC Canyon reliable?
Independent repair data rates the Canyon above average for reliability and places it near the top of the mid-size truck class. No manufacturer or federal agency publishes a reliability score, so we describe those reads rather than quote them, and they pool every model year rather than describing the 2026 alone. For recalls and technical service bulletins on a specific truck, look the VIN up at nhtsa.gov, or bring it to us and we will run it against GM's open campaigns.

Can I test drive a 2026 Canyon in Hot Springs?
Yes. We keep Canyons on the ground at Allen Tillery Buick GMC on Central Avenue, and buyers drive in from Benton, from Little Rock, and from as far south as Hope and Nashville to see them. Bring your trailer weight and your garage measurements and we will put you in the trim that actually fits, which is often a cheaper one than you expected. Benton and Little Rock shoppers usually find the drive worth it.
Can I get financing on a 2026 Canyon with less-than-perfect credit?
Often, yes. We work with a range of lenders across central Arkansas, from Little Rock down to Hope, and a pre-qualification does not affect your credit score. Start online and you will know your terms before you walk in, which puts the conversation where it belongs: on the truck, not on the paperwork.
