2026 GMC Canyon Trims and Pricing Hot Springs AR

Four trims, one engine, and one step-up that takes capability away. What each rung actually buys you, and what it costs.

The 2026 GMC Canyon comes in four trims: Elevation, AT4, Denali and AT4X. They run from $38,900 to $57,300, excluding destination, and every one of them uses the same 2.7L TurboMax engine making 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. That is unusual. In most mid-size trucks the ladder buys you power. Here it buys traction hardware, materials and cameras, which means the decision is about how you use the truck rather than how much truck you can afford.

We stock the Canyon lineup at Allen Tillery Buick GMC, and buyers come to us from Benton, Bryant and Malvern to sit in all four before choosing. This page covers every trim in detail, puts them side by side, works through the three comparisons people actually search, and ends with a step-up table showing exactly what each rung costs and what it gains. Start at the 2026 Canyon research hub if you want the full picture, or the Canyon overview for the short version.

Available engines: 2.7L TurboMax turbocharged four-cylinder, 310 horsepower, 430 lb-ft, 8-speed automatic. It is the only engine offered. Drivetrain: rear-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive is available. GMC does not publish a separate MSRP for the four-wheel-drive Elevation, so ask us for the figure on the truck you want. Cab and bed: Crew Cab with the short bed, the only configuration GMC builds. Max towing: 7,700 lbs properly equipped, with the conventional hitch. Payload: 1,670 pounds in rear-wheel drive, 1,610 pounds with four-wheel drive.

Key standard equipment: off-road suspension with a 2-inch factory lift and a widened track, 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels on all-terrain tires, the 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, the 11.0-inch digital Driver Information Center, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start, the HD Rear Vision Camera with Hitch View, the ProGrade Trailering System, the Off-Road Performance Display, CoreTec seating surfaces, and up to 8 available camera views. Key upgrades: four-wheel drive, the MultiStow tailgate, a Bose 7-speaker system, an available 8-way power heated driver seat with power lumbar, and HD Surround Vision.

Who it is for: the buyer coming down from a full-size truck who wants the same engine, the same tow rating and a footprint that parks.

Canyon AT4, from $45,500 excluding destination

Available engines: the same 2.7L TurboMax, unchanged. Drivetrain: four-wheel drive standard, with a two-speed Autotrac transfer case and a transfer case shield. Cab and bed: Crew Cab, short bed. Max towing: 7,700 lbs properly equipped. Payload: 1,570 pounds.

Key standard equipment: everything on the Elevation, plus an automatic locking rear differential, Advanced Hill Descent Control, the full Normal, Terrain, Tow/Haul and Off-Road drive-mode set, the MultiStow tailgate, 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels on all-terrain tires, and Timber interior accents. Ground clearance is 9.6 inches, with a 33.5-degree approach angle and a 22.4-degree departure angle. Key upgrades: the AT4 Premium Package adds leather-appointed front seating surfaces. Bose audio is available.

Who it is for: anyone whose Canyon sees a boat ramp, a gravel county road or a deer lease, and who still wants the full tow rating.

Canyon Denali, from $53,300 excluding destination

Available engines: the same 2.7L TurboMax. Drivetrain: four-wheel drive standard. Cab and bed: Crew Cab, short bed. Max towing: 7,700 lbs properly equipped, identical to the AT4. Payload: 1,390 pounds, the second-lowest in the lineup.

Key standard equipment: perforated leather-appointed seating with Teak accents and laser-etched wood trim, a Bose 7-speaker premium audio system, HD Surround Vision, a center console wireless charging pad, 20-inch diamond-cut dark gray aluminum wheels on all-terrain tires, 5-inch chrome assist steps with textured pads, and a sculpted chrome grille. Rear Pedestrian Alert and a Safety Alert Seat are offered. A 6.3-inch multicolor head-up display appears on the Denali's feature list, but GMC's model page and its Denali page disagree on whether it is standard or optional, so confirm it on the window sticker of the truck you are buying. Key upgrades: 22-inch accessory wheels.

Who it is for: the driver who wants the nicest cabin in the segment and never intends to leave pavement. Capability is identical to the AT4; comfort is not.

Canyon AT4X, from $57,300 excluding destination

Available engines: the same 2.7L TurboMax. Drivetrain: four-wheel drive standard. Cab and bed: Crew Cab, short bed. Max towing: 6,000 lbs properly equipped, the lowest of the four trims. Payload: 1,260 pounds, also the lowest. GCWR drops to 11,600 pounds where the rest of the lineup carries 13,250 pounds.

Key standard equipment: a 3-inch factory lift, Multimatic DSSV dampers, selectable front and rear electronic locking differentials, a Baja drive mode with launch control, 10.7 inches of ground clearance, a 37.1-degree approach angle and a 25.1-degree departure angle, a 66.3-inch track width, up to 10 camera views including front- and rear-facing underbody cameras, HD Surround Vision, Bose 7-speaker audio, a sunroof, a heated and ventilated 8-way power driver seat, and the AT4X-only Obsidian Rush interior with Ceramic White accents. Key upgrades: the AEV Edition package, which brings a 4.5-inch lift, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires on 17-inch AEV beadlock-capable Salta wheels, five AEV hot-stamped boron-steel skid plates and AEV stamped-steel bumpers. With that package the tow rating falls again, to 5,500 lbs.

Who it is for: the driver who runs technical terrain often enough to accept 6,000 lbs of tow rating where the AT4 offers 7,700 lbs. If that trade made you wince, buy the AT4.

Head to head

Common 2026 Canyon Trim Comparisons

Canyon Elevation vs AT4

This is the real decision for most buyers: $38,900 against $45,500, both before destination. Both trims share the engine, the 8-speed, the 2-inch factory lift, the 11.3-inch screen and the same 7,700-lb tow rating properly equipped. What the AT4 brings is the four-wheel-drive system as standard equipment, a two-speed Autotrac transfer case with a shield, an automatic locking rear differential, Advanced Hill Descent Control and the complete drive-mode set, plus the MultiStow tailgate.

Add four-wheel drive to an Elevation and the gap narrows, and what remains buys the transfer case, the hill descent system and the interior upgrades. If the truck never leaves pavement, the rear-drive Elevation is the better buy and returns better fuel economy: 19 city and 23 highway against the AT4's 17 and 22. If it sees gravel, mud or a wet ramp, take the AT4.

Canyon AT4 vs AT4X

$45,500 against $57,300, and the AT4X spends every cent of the difference below the floorpan. It gets a 3-inch lift instead of 2, Multimatic DSSV dampers, selectable front and rear electronic locking differentials where the AT4 has an automatic locking rear, a Baja drive mode with launch control, and up to 10 camera views including underbody cameras. AT4X ground clearance is 10.7 inches. AT4 ground clearance is 9.6 inches. The sunroof, Bose audio and heated-and-ventilated power driver seat come standard.

What it costs you is not just money. Properly equipped, the AT4X tows 6,000 lbs where the AT4 tows 7,700 lbs. AT4X payload is 1,260 pounds. AT4 payload is 1,570 pounds. And the AT4X returns 17 MPG city and highway alike, because the lift and the tires erase the highway advantage. Buy the AT4X if you run technical terrain. Buy the AT4 if you tow.

Canyon AT4 vs Denali

$45,500 against $53,300, and not one horsepower or pound of tow rating changes hands. The Denali gets perforated leather with Teak accents, Bose audio, HD Surround Vision, a wireless charging pad, chrome assist steps and 20-inch diamond-cut wheels. It keeps the 7,700-lb rating and the 2-inch lift. Denali payload is 1,390 pounds. AT4 payload is 1,570 pounds.

This is a lateral move on capability and a genuine step up on comfort. It is not a more capable truck, and the pages that imply it is are wrong. If you spend your miles between Benton and Little Rock rather than on a forest road, the Denali is a defensible purchase. If you were buying it because it costs more, buy the AT4 and a very good set of tires.

The verdict

The 2026 Canyon Value Verdict and Step-Up Guide

The sweet spot: the AT4. It is the least expensive Canyon with the two-speed transfer case, the locking rear differential and the full drive-mode set, and it keeps the lineup's maximum tow rating and its second-highest payload. Everything above it costs more and tows the same or less.

The one most people overpay for: the AT4X. Not because it is a bad truck, but because most buyers who choose it tow more than they crawl. If your trailer weighs more than three tons, the AT4X is the wrong answer at any price, and it costs $57,300 where the right answer costs $45,500.

The table below shows each rung as the two starting MSRPs it sits between, both excluding destination. We do not print a subtraction as if it were a quoted price, because it is not one, and because a transaction price is a different number entirely.

Route yourself

Which 2026 Canyon Trim Is Right for You?

If you left a full-size truck because it stopped fitting

Elevation with four-wheel drive. Same engine as every Canyon above it, the same 7,700-lb tow rating properly equipped, the highest payload in the lineup, and a truck that parks in a single garage bay.

If you tow a boat, a small camper or a utility trailer

AT4. Full tow rating, the two-speed transfer case for a wet ramp, hill descent for the way back down, and 1,570 pounds of payload to absorb tongue weight.

If your week includes gravel roads, a hunting lease or forest service roads

AT4. This is the trim the ladder is built around, and the money you spend past it does not make the truck more capable in that use.

If it is a daily driver that happens to have a bed

Denali. The leather, the Bose, the surround-view cameras and the wireless pad, with capability identical to the AT4. Just know that is what you are buying.

If you run rock, ruts and technical trails

AT4X, and the AEV Edition package if you are serious. Accept the tow rating. Do not talk yourself into believing it tows what the AT4 tows.

2026 Canyon Trim FAQs

How much is each 2026 GMC Canyon trim?

Excluding destination: Elevation $38,900 with rear-wheel drive, AT4 $45,500, Denali $53,300, AT4X $57,300. GMC's destination freight charge is $2,095. GMC does not publish a separate MSRP for the four-wheel-drive Elevation.

Which 2026 Canyon trim is the best value?

The AT4. It is the cheapest Canyon with the two-speed Autotrac transfer case, Advanced Hill Descent Control and the full drive-mode set, and it keeps the lineup's maximum 7,700-lb tow rating, properly equipped. Everything above it trades either capability or money for comfort.

Do all 2026 Canyon trims have the same engine?

Yes. Every trim runs the 2.7L TurboMax turbocharged four-cylinder, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, with an 8-speed automatic and a 3.42 rear axle. There is no engine upgrade anywhere on the ladder, and no diesel or hybrid variant.

What does the Canyon AT4X give up compared to the AT4?

Towing and payload. Properly equipped, the AT4X is rated at 6,000 lbs against the AT4's 7,700 lbs, and it carries 1,260 pounds of payload against the AT4's 1,570 pounds. What it gains is a 3-inch lift, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear electronic locking differentials and a Baja drive mode.

Is the Denali more capable than the AT4?

No. The Denali tows the same 7,700 lbs properly equipped, and carries less payload at 1,390 pounds. It has the same engine, the same transmission and the same 2-inch factory lift. What the Denali buys is perforated leather, Bose audio, HD Surround Vision, a wireless charging pad and 20-inch diamond-cut wheels. It is a lateral move on capability and a step up on comfort.

Is four-wheel drive standard on the 2026 Canyon?

It is standard on the AT4, Denali and AT4X. On the Elevation, rear-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive is available.

Should I order a Canyon or buy one off the lot?

If the trim and package combination you want is on the ground, buy it. Ordering makes sense when you want a specific configuration, most often an AT4X with the AEV Edition package. Call us and we will tell you honestly which one gets you the truck sooner.

Thirty minutes in an Elevation and an AT4 back to back will settle this faster than any table on this page.
