We love our fine city of Hot Springs, AR for many reasons. Its beauty, naturally heated springs, shopping, and, of course, dining. So when you want to find a great place for a delicious meal with the whole clan, the following family restaurants are among our favorites.
1. Phil’s
This restaurant has been in business for more than 20 years and continues to provide tasty Southern-style home cooking for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You’ll definitely want to try the daily specials, which are made to order, and come in generous portions. Dishes include lasagna, meatloaf, country-fried steak, liver and grilled onions, taco salad, grilled pork loin, chicken and dumplings, gumbo, burgers, and more.
We also like their side options, like green beans, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw. Items also vary, depending on the day, so just ask what’s on tap. The kids can have a grilled cheese, hamburger, cheeseburger, or a chicken and cheese quesadilla. Phil’s is open seven days a week and they are located at 2900 Central Ave.
2. The Purple Cow
As the name suggests, purple is the theme here, and the kids will love it. You can dine inside or outside and enjoy American classics as well as milkshakes and ice cream. They even have a purple vanilla milkshake! But first, order the sampler platter for everyone at your table. Then enjoy a salad and a cup of homemade soup. For the main course, we recommend one of their many gourmet burgers, hot dogs, or toasted and grilled sandwiches.
For the kiddos, order the hamburger, cheeseburger, the chicken finger basket, the peanut butter and purple jelly, the chicken finger salad, the corn dog nuggets, or the mac and cheese. In addition to the purple milkshake, they also have several other desserts, such as purple ice cream pie, ice cream sodas, chocolate malts, and more. Find this venue at 1490 Higdon Ferry Rd. 3. Rocky’s Corner
Family-owned and operated since 1975, Rocky’s specializes in Chicago-style pizza and cold beer by the pitcher. Start with Rocky’s chicken wings, spinach artichoke dip, or the super sampler before enjoying one of the many gourmet pizzas. They also serve burgers, pasta dishes, sandwiches, hot dogs, salad, and soup.
For the kids, order a hot dog basket, a chicken strip basket, and spaghetti. Rocky’s is located at 2600 Central Ave. and they are open every day. Please drink responsibly and in moderation, and do not drink and drive.
